The first surviving son of Louisa and Henry, Arthur Henry was born at Gumeracha on 2 September, 1877, where he later commenced his schooling. He was about 10 years old when the Bowey family moved to Golden Grove. Arthur married Martha Boyle on 7 February, 1901. Martha was a daughter of Martha and William Boyle - William was a blacksmith at the ‘Gully’ for many years.
Arthur was about eight years of age when his father leased Royston Farm at Golden Grove from Miss Kennedy. In 1905, after Henry and Louisa retired to Modbury, Arthur and his wife Martha took up the lease of Royston Farm. About 1914, Arthur bought a farm of his own on the Golden Grove Road, the house being known as ‘Brooklyn Villa’. (The farm was later bought by Arthur’s niece and her husband, Reta and John Thomas Tilley.) When Arthur and his family shifted to ‘Brooklyn Villa’, Miss Kennedy came to live with them.
Arthur and Martha Bowey had three children. Kenneth, the eldest, was already born by the time his father was leasing Royston Farm. Here the two younger children Jessie and Leonard were born. Once finished with farming, Arthur bought a house at 47 Airlie Avenue, Prospect, and here he died at the age of 64 years, on 11 June, 1941. His widow lived to be 95 years of age and her last seven years were spent with her daughter Jessie. Marthur died on 21 July, 1972, and was buried with Arthur at the Main North Road cemetery. Jessie, Mrs Moss of Werribee, Victoria, is their only surviving child.
